It is the start of the daylily season. Each flower blooms for just one day - hence their name - but each plant produces many flowers.
A catalog of my garden on just this day -
G.P. checking the corn:
Tomatoes:
A lotus blossom, my first ever:
And, of course, the daylilies:
Daylilies, at least around here, have almost no diseases or pests. They ask for almost no care, come back every year, and withstand heat, rain, storms, and cold. My daylily beds give me three months of color, from the start of the early bloomers to the end of the late ones.
Yet each flower lives just one day.
Exquisite day lilies. Mine continue to astound as well. It looks as if you have a lotus about to bloom? Way up there???
